The weekend of August 6th marked the Sesquicentennial (150 years) of Newburg, which is where Mark is from. NanNan and PopPop were a part of committees for the weekend festivities. We took Kelsey and Grace and enjoyed the celebrations. Unfortunately, it rained on Saturday, but that didn't stop us from being there for the food and the Queen contest. Aunt Karlee came on Sunday to hang out and joined us for the parade in Newburg. We even ran into Ms. LeAnne and Jude. Great job NanNan and PopPop! Thanks for having us!

Cousin Grace!!!!
We were very fortunate to go up to PA to spend the weekend with Cousin Grace from Florida at NanNan and PopPop's house. Grace has been up North visiting both sets of Grandparents. Kelsey and Grace had a wonderful time together. We treasured every minute of it! Grace was very helpful with Kelsey and they loved playing together. We miss you Grace and can't wait to see you again soon! Hopefully next time it will be with Aunt Jenellle and Uncle Chad.

Grandpa's birthday
Mark, Kelsey, and I were fortunate enough to be with Grandpa on his birthday (August 4) this year. We were actually staying at his house due to our air conditioning not working. Grandma was already out in Nebraska so we got to keep him company. Luckily, Grandpa asked to have crabs for dinner so Kelsey got to see a crab for the first time. It was very lovely and yummy evening with Godmommy Meghan and Aunt Jari.
Happy (now belated) Birthday Grandpa!

Trip to NC part 2
Everyone loves to hold Kelsey. Nathan had his chance and was concentrating so hard on holding her he didn't look up for the picture. Nathan's friend Savannah, who lives down the street, loved holding Kelsey and didn't want to let her go.
KISSES FOR KELSEY!
Nathan is very good about giving kisses. He is into kissing on the lips, which is very wet. My favorite moment was when he was leaning down to kiss her, picture on the right, and Kelsey had her thumb in her mouth. Nathan was so upset that he couldn't kiss her lips. It was so sweet. They are going to love these pictures when they are older. :-)

Trip to NC
Kelsey got to take her first long road trip to North Carolina with Mommy and Godmommy Meghan. Daddy had to stay at home and work. Kelsey and Nathan got some quality cousin time. We had a great time and miss everyone down there.
Luckily, Meghan and I went Sunday night - Wednesday afternoon so Kelsey got quality Uncle Shawn time. Nathan enjoyed playing with Kelsey's toys along with revisiting his old seat, the Bumbo. I don't know many 2 year olds who can still fit it in it.
Aunt Melissa got to feed Kelsey her rice cereal, which she wanted to help with. One happy Kelsey = Good Job Aunt Melissa!
See the tower of blocks that could've falled on Kelsey's head? This is in reference to Shawn's post on Nathan's blog. The blocks from Grandpa were a big hit and luckily no one was hurt.
One evening we went to a beach at a lake and tried to enjoy a cookout. Unfortunately, all the flies and bees in the area came to join us for dinner. The company and getting Kelsey to sleep were what made the evening great! Miss Mikki got her baby girl fix in before having her own baby girl, due in November.

Christmas In July
Our friends Katie and Tim have a Christmas in July party every year. It's a great way for them to get to use their Christmas decorations again. There's a pool, Santa Claus, and a gift exchange game. Last year we announced to our friends at this party we were pregnant and this year we got to bring Kelsey. Every year Santa comes a different way, and this year the volunteer fire department of Odenton brought him on a fire truck. Kelsey was the only kid who wasn't afraid of him at first.
Miss Jackie said she would hold Kelsey when she could hold her head up. Kelsey was able to do that for a while, but finally Miss Jackie was around to hold her.

Good job Kelsey! You might just see these pictures again at Christmas time for our card. :-) Who knows if she'll be this calm come December when she is 11 months old.
Santa Claus is coming to town!!!!

Yum, Yum, Yum!
On Sat. July 16th we gave Kelsey rice cereal for the first time. She took it very well and has enjoyed it everyday. As you can see we had to hold her hands down because she wanted to hold the spoon. She sits with us at meal times and chews on spoons, so she thought this one was for her.
I ate it all, see! :-) |
