Sandy Point State Park

Say what you want about being a part of a Union, but mine throws a big family BBQ every year on the Friday before school starts since teachers are not paid to go in that day.  They do this to get you to not go into work and to have a fun day with your family.  My friend Sarah L. and I have been doing this for years, even when I would go into work in the morning and then go to the BBQ.  This year it was at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.  There was a beach area, food, a playground, gift bags for adults and sand buckets for kids.  They always raffle off prizes and serve drinks.

I drove the wonderful miniman and packed in Kelsey, Evan, Sarah L., Kate and her mom Brenda and off we went.  Kelsey was super excited to play in the sand and water and Evan was a happy baby with everyone. Even though it rained a fun time was had by all! Thanks ladies for your help with the kids during this event.

5 Months!

So I took Evan's 5 month pictures on August 13th, just a little past 5 months.  He is such a happy baby unless he is 1. Hungry, 2. tired, and 3. Has a bubble and needs to burb.  He looks exactly like Kelsey did as a baby (see baby in pink on the right) and is having a great time with Grandpa now that I'm back to work.

Nebraska Day 5 leaving

The hardest thing ever was leaving Nebraska. On August 11th we had to say good-bye and fly back home.  With Grandma turning 97 on August 25th we don't know when we'll get back until next Summer.  The kids had a great time visiting and Kelsey uses flying and going to Nebraska in her pretend play with her dolls.  A super duper time was had by all!!!  Next time Mark will need to get into the picture.

Nebraska Trip Day 4 Parade

There's always a parade on the Sunday of the Cuming County Fair.  This year all of the kids got to stay for it.  They were all very excited about catching candy and seeing the parade.  Our cousins and aunt and uncle were kind enough to put out chairs so we would have a prime spot on the route.  We all got settled and were ready for a great time.

Okay, the parade starts and we are all having a good time.  A float comes by throwing water bottles, how nice!  The water bottles were in a cooler so were splashing us a little as they were going through the air.  Then, the we realized the splashing wasn't coming from the water bottles, but from a rain storm coming through.  All of the sudden it was POURING!  Luckily, we had umbrellas to share and everyone ran for cover as soon as they could.  Evan was put in the stroller and covered up nice and tight.

After the rain the kids got out their bags and stood in the street to get the candy since there was a huge puddle next to the curb. Kelsey was obsessed with getting the candy and was running all around when she saw a piece on the ground.  The funny thing is she barely eats candy, but it was super fun to chase it around.  A fun time along with dry clothes and pizza at the hotel were had by all!

Nebraska Day 3

Have you ever heard of ALCO? No?  Well you are definitely missing out. It's a local store that we always go to in West Point. I never realized how small the carts are.  Melissa and I had a fun trip with Evan on August 8th. We weren't sure how we were going to put the carseat in the little cart.  We made it work and enjoyed our shopping experience.

After shopping we picked up the rest of our families and went to lunch. From there we went to the fair where we got to see animals, eat fair food, and ice cream.  Where else can you get $1.00 cones?  Even Evan had to get in on that action.

That night we had dinner at Great Grandma's new residence. Only in small town do they set up the Chapel for your family dinner.  I even got a picture of my parents together. What a wonderful night!!!
